Our Approach
Our Story
I am a dad first, to three amazing kids. They are my life and I strive every day to be their Ironman. I have lived a blessed life; a life with many ups, downs, bumps, and bruises along the way, but a life that I wouldn't trade with anyone for any reason.
By day, I manage the mortgage department for a credit union in Western North Carolina. Outside of one of the best jobs ever, I love being with my kids hiking, paddle boarding, playing "chase no base," throwing the baseball or frisbee and "just being." I've also found an addiction to triathlon and endurance training, hence the name, WhyNotTri.
Earlier this year, I have set a goal to complete a full Ironman race and becoming an Ironman in 2019. It's going to be a tough challenge, but I know I have what it takes to make it a reality.
I have found a love for training, whether it's going for a run at the lake, going to the gym for a swim, weight training or spin class, or just being active. It's difficult for me to go more than a day without training these days.
Some races that I have completed recently are the Hilton Head Bridge Run 10k, The Nations Triathlon in Washington DC and the Lake Lure Triathlon.
Next year, I have planned at least six triathlons, including a half Ironman 70.3, to help me prepare for finishing an Ironman race in 2019.
For many years, I have wanted to write a book....a financial thriller, or a humorous journal on my "Trip Around The Beltway", documenting the 6 years of commuting in Washington DC? I've written down ideas and stored them for that time in the future when I decide to take on that challenge. Being consistent with a blog will have to do for now....let's see how I do with that and then maybe a new challenge.
I hope you enjoy my blog and my website. My goal is to take you along with me on my journeys, wherever they go. I hope to inspire, motivate, entertain and encourage you as I share my life as a dad, a triathlete, and a friend.
